VirtualCenterrequiresadministratoraccesstothesystemsselectedforanalysisbefore

itcanbegintoanalyzethem.Youcanspecifycredentialsonasystem‐by‐systembasis,

andyoucanspecifydefaultcredentialsthatVirtualCentercanusewhencredentials

havenotbeenexplicitlyspecified.Defaultcredentialscanbespecifiedatany

time

throughConsolidationSettings(“SpecifyingConsolidationSettings”onpage 132)or

duringthediscoveryphasethroughtheSetAuthenticationdialogbox.Onlythelatter

methodisdiscussedinthissection.

To specify default credentials during the discovery phase

1IntheAddtoAnalysisdialogbox,selectsystemstoaddtoanalysis.

2ClickAddtoAnalysis.

3IntheSetAuthentication

dialogbox,enteradomain‐qualifiedusername(for

example,DOMAIN\username)andpassword.

YoucanchoosetosetcredentialsatalatertimebyselectingSpecifyLater.This

optionisusefulifsomeoftheselectedsystemsrequiredifferentcredentials.See

“Tospecifycredentialsforaspecificsystem”onpage 134.

4ConfirmthepasswordandclickOK.

To specify credentials for a specific system

1IntheAnalysistab,selectasystem.Youcanselectmultiplesystems.The

credentialsyouspecifywillbeusedforallselectedsystems.

2ClickSetAuthentication.

3Enteradomain‐qualifiedusername(forexample,DOMAIN\username)and

password.

4ClickOK.

Viewing Analysis Results

AnalysisresultsaredisplayedintheAnalysistab.Whenanalysisiscomplete,the

followinginformationisdisplayed:

 MachineName–Displaysthehostnameofthephysicalsystembeinganalyzedor

imported.

 MemoryInfo–DisplaystheamountofRAMonthesystem.

 Status–Displaystheprogressoftheanalysis.
