1ClicktheResourcestab.

2 SelectDiskintheSettingslist.

Onthisdialogbox,youcanadjustthehostdiskallocationforthisvirtualmachine.

3IntheResourceAllocationpanel,selectthevirtualharddiskfromthelist.

4ClickintheSharesfield.Usethedrop‐downmenutochange

thevaluetoallocate

anumberofsharesofitsdiskbandwidthtothevirtualmachine.

Sharesisavaluethatrepresentstherelativemetricforcontrollingdiskbandwidth

toallvirtualmachines.ThevaluesLow,Normal,High,andCustomarecompared

tothesumofallsharesofallvirtual

machinesontheserverand,onanESXServer

3host,theserviceconsole.Shareallocationsymbolicvaluescanbeusedto

configuretheirconversionintonumericvalues.

5ClickOKtosaveyourchanges.

Adding New Hardware

YoucanaddvirtualhardwaretoavirtualmachineusingtheAddHardwarewizard.

ThevirtualhardwarethatyouaddappearsinthehardwarelistdisplayedintheVirtual

MachinePropertieswizard.Theselectedguestoperatingsystemdeterminesthe

devicesthatareavailabletobeaddedtoagivenvirtualmachine.

To start the wizard

1FromtheVirtualCenterclient,clickInventoryinthenavigationbar.Expandthe

inventoryasneeded,andclicktheappropriatevirtualmachine.

2TodisplaytheVirtualMachinePropertiesdialogbox,clicktheEditSettingslink

intheCommandspanel.

3ClicktheHardwaretab.

4ClickAddtostarttheAddHardwarewizard.
